Cecily Firestein
Cecily Barth Firestein started making art at the age of 5. Over the years, she has studied with the likes of Hans Hoffman, Yasuo Kuniyoshi, Theodoros Stamos, Hale Woodruff, and Roberto De Lamonica. Her monotypes have been shown around the globe and are included in collections from New York to Vienna. Firestein is recognized as one of the leading exponents of the mixed-media monotype: a single, unique impression pulled from a painting on a large, thick plate of glass, worked up with overpainting, drawing, and a complex variety of collage elements.
